Mosquito Treatment

Mosquitoes suck, literally. That’s why our mosquito control service targets these pests so they don’t target you.

Our mosquito service plan provides:

  • A combination of treatments to break the mosquito’s life cycle, preventing larvae from becoming breeding, biting, and potentially disease-carrying adults
  • Monthly or one-time treatments during mosquito season safe for family and pets
  • Added protection from mosquito-borne diseases, such as Zika, West Nile Virus, and Chikungunya

HOW WE TREAT FOR MOSQUITOES

Our mosquito treatment plan begins with a thorough property inspection by a highly-trained pest control technician to locate and identify mosquitoes and the places they breed in and around your home. Once the inspection is complete, our technician will prepare a mosquito treatment plan that’s right for you.

About Mosquitos

The mosquito’s saliva is transferred to the host during the bite and can cause an itchy rash. In addition, many species can ingest pathogens while biting, and transmit them to future hosts. In this way, mosquitoes are important vectors of diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, Chikungunya, West Nile, dengue fever, filariasis, Zika, and other arboviruses. By transmitting diseases, mosquitoes cause the deaths of more people than any other animal taxon: over 700,000 each year.

When you think of pests, mosquitoes usually make the top ten list—especially if you live in a humid area or if there bodies of still water nearby. Mosquitoes are more than pests, though. Because they pierce the skin and draw blood from their victims, they carry pathogens and can infect their prey with diseases, viruses, and parasites

Mosquitoes are insects from the gnat family and have been around for 170 million years. After transitioning from egg to larva to pupa, they become adults and live anywhere from four to eight weeks. The transitioning phases vary in time according to the species of the mosquito and the climate.

Male mosquitoes are vegetarians and typically use their piercing mouthparts to extract nectar from plants. Females, other the other hand, feed on both nectar and blood in order to obtain the appropriate nutrients to produce eggs.

The best-case scenario when having been bitten by a mosquito is that you will suffer a small stinging sensation and a small welt. Some people are more sensitive to insect bites and the inflicted site will flare up and need a soothing salve to lessen the severity of the allergy. The reason for the inflammation around the bite is due to a protein in the mosquito’s saliva that prevents the blood from clotting (making it easier for the insect to drink your blood until she is full). It takes several days for the human body to break these proteins down and for the inflammation to disappear.

The West Nile virus has been worrying Americans since 1999, but Malaria affects even more people in third world countries. Other mosquito-related diseases include Dengue and Yellow fever. They also carry heartworm parasites that can infect your pets.

Step 1 : Assess
Inspection:

If you have seen mosquitoes and want to help protect your home against this bloodthirsty multiplying intruder, our specialist will come and inspect your home.

They are sneaky and fast, but our specialist is trained to pinpoint evidence if they are around. On the first visit, we will examine your entire home including the bed, furniture, rugs, and linens. We will conduct an inspection of target areas, and if required, use tools to check cracks and crevices.

Our specialists will usually start in the kitchen and work their way through your home, concentrating on the furniture and the areas immediately surrounding the furniture.

Step 2 : Implement

Upon completion of the inspection and an assessment of the situation, our specialist will recommend the best course of action. If the inspection confirms an infestation, We will recommend a treatment plan based on the severity of the infestation and your preferences. We will use the best tools and science to address the causes and treat your mosquito problem in the best way for your family, pets, and the environment. This implementation method targets mosquitoes as well as the larvae — preventing them from maturing into breeding, biting, and potentially disease-carrying adults.

Step 3 : Monitor

Mosquitoes can be difficult to eradicate, so our specialist will perform a follow-up visit to help ensure the effectiveness of the professional treatment that was performed. Additionally, our specialist will document the visit and recommend the next steps to ensure the best maintenance approach for your home.
